Vote for John Sterling’s “Best” Home Run Call

john SterlingThe New York Yankees are back in the World Series. The Yankees ability to hit the long ball is a big reason for their return to the Fall Classic. With a MLB leading 244 home runs during the regular season, New York Yankees radio announcer John Sterling has had to make plenty of home run calls.

For those of you who don’t know, Sterling is famous (or infamous depending on who you root for) for his signature home run calls. Every starting player on the Yanks has his own home run call. “An A-Bomb from A-Rod!” (Alex Rodriguez) and “Jorgy Juiced One” (Jorge Posada) are just a few examples. Some are really clever, while others are just plain awful.

Sports Talk Radio Shows and the Idiots who Call Them

RadioMicDuring my daily commute I like to listen to sports talk radio in the car.  Like most people, I listen to sports talk to catch up on news and scores and also to hear some intelligent analysis.  Unfortunately, this is often interrupted by idiotic callers.  There are many types of idiots who call up sports talk radio shows.  I’m going to break down each kind for you. The Top Ten KTU War of the Roses Moments

KTUHere in New York, a popular radio station called 103.5 KTU, does a daily segment called War of the Roses. In the segment, the DJ’s call up suspected cheaters pretending to be an online flower company who is giving away free roses. When the suspected cheater sends the roses to someone he or she shouldn’t be sending them to, the spouse gets on the line and flips out.   These clips are both hilarious and shocking and you don’t need to be from New York to appreciate them.  For your enjoyment, I have compiled the Top Ten War of the Roses Moments of All-Time.  (more…)
