The Best Cheap Beer Around
Times are tough. The economy is in the shitter. You’ve lost half your retirement savings in the stock market and Obama is spending taxpayer money like a drunken sailor. You need to cut back and make some sacrifices… Well boozin’ shouldn’t be one of them. So in an effort to help you save money, here is a list of the top five cheap beers. These are the best tasting beers that won’t empty your pocket.
Now I consider myself somewhat of a beer connoisseur. I won’t settle for cheap beer. You’ll never see me drinking Natural Ice or Keystone Light or anything out of a can unless I’m playing beer pong. So these aren’t really my ideal beers but they are pretty good if you are short on cash.
5. Miller High Life (12-pack bottle retails for around $7-8): Hey… They don’t call it the champagne of beers for nothing. In all honesty, the beer is nothing special but you can’t beat that price. Plus are there any better beer commercials than the ones for Miller High Life?
4. Miller Lite: (12-pack bottles retails for around $11) Nothing too exciting here but it’s definitely the best of the American light beers (Coors, Bud, Miller). It’s a lot more filling that Bud Light and Coors Light, which basically taste like piss water.
3. Rolling Rock (12-pack bottles retails for around $10): Rolling Rock is a little light but is still a step above other light beers and that’s why it comes in at #3. It’s difficult to find a better tasting American light beer at this price range.
2. Killians Irish Red (12-pack bottles retails for around $10): First off, who knew that Killians Irish Red was brewed in Colorado? I recently discovered that and felt a little cheated. However, being an American beer is what makes it affordable. It’s hard to believe Coors makes this beer because everything else they make is crap. This beer pours a beautiful red color and tastes as good as looks. Well worthy of its #2 ranking.
1. Yuengling (12-pack bottle retails for around $11) Not only is this the best value beer but it is also one of my personal favorites. It looks the way a beer is supposed to look and tastes the way a beer is supposed to taste. The pride of Pottsville, PA is high quality beer at an affordable price. So stock up your fridge while you still have some money!

Hey John, thanks for the kind words on the Problogger post. You win the best blog title of all time, hands down. I’ll be back often and I’ll bring me balls.
Take care friend,
Josh
Thanks. Josh. I appreciate. I’m glad you like the site!
Forgive the response to an older post (I’m a NOOB, and am enjoying reading your older work…sort of “Rain Man meets I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell”) but I definitely agree with your top 2.
I travel to Pittsburgh 4-5 times per year for work, and always bring a few cases of Yuengling home with me to Michigan. I’ve converted many Coors Light/Bud Light/AnyCrap Light drinkers over to the ways of the Ying.
Killian’s also rocks! However, I get so friggin’ tired of explaining to waitresses that I’m not going to pay the import price for a beer that states right on the bottle it is made in the USA…
