The New-Look Banner
To all 30 of my loyal readers (and I think I’m being generous there) you may have noticed the snazzy new banner posted today. Since this is the blog for a man’s man, I have posted the photos of six of the great man’s men of all-time. Just incase your not familiar with these people it’s (from left to right) Teddy Roosevelt, Bear Grylls, Jack Bauer, Rocky Balboa, Clint Eastwood, and Frank Sinatra.
Just their names alone give off a sense of manliness: Clint, Bear, Jack, Frank, Rocky. (Teddy is kind of a gay nickname but five out of six ain’t bad!). Here’s a brief synopsis of why these six people received this “distinguished” honor:
Teddy Roosevelt
Aside from being president of the United States, Roosevelt was a historian, naturalist, explorer, hunter, author and solider. That’s a pretty impressive resume. Then his image was ruined when Robin Williams was cast to play him in Night at the Museum and he made TR look like a giant pussy.
Bear Grylls
Have you ever seen Man vs. Wild? Bear Grylls is awesome. I wouldn’t survive ten minutes in the places he’s been. Anyone who’s willing to drink his own piss, eat nuts out of bear shit, and jump ass naked into a frozen lake in Siberia is a true man’s man.
Jack Bauer
Jack Bauer, of 24 fame, has saved the world seven times and piled up an impressive body count of 223 terrorists. He’s a certified bad ass and that’s why he makes the banner.
Rocky Balboa
He willed himself to defeat Apollo Creed and Clubber Lang and ended the cold war when he knocked out Ivan Drago. He was the city of Philadelphia’s lone champion until the Phillies finally won in 2008. He’s a fictional character and he has a statue outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Not too shabby.
Clint Eastwood
Before there was Jack Bauer, there was Clint Eastwood, the ultimate man’s man. He’s been in some of the best movies of our generation (Dirty Harry and Gran Torino are two of my favorites) and supplied us with countless one-liners. Here’s my favorite Clint Eastwood clip:
Frank Sinatra
Being a full-blooded Italian American, I had to put Sinatra on the banner. Sinatra came from impoverished beginnings and achieved the American dream. He is one of the greatest entertainers of all-time and an American icon.

ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY!
Rocky is the manliest of men. Oh and I still think hes the most popular thing in Philly. Maybe that would change if the Eagles ever won a superbowl but I think of the Phillies as the 3rd team in that area behind the Eagles and Flyers.
what! you’re just jealous, that Philadelphia has a real baseball team.
Well said w/r/t Robin Williams and TR
